Opening Weekend of the 62nd Season of "Horn in the West" and Daniel Boone Wagon Train 50th Anniversary
In 1963, people gathered in Wilkes and Watauga counties, North Carolina, to participate in a 4-day wagon train excursion through the Blue Ridge foothills and mountains to commemorate the life and times of Daniel Boone. This excursion culminated on Saturday, June 29th, with arrival of the wagon train at Daniel Boone Park in Boone, N.C., for that season's opening weekend of "Horn in the West."
During the 50th anniversary celebration of 2013, the dates of "Horn's" opening weekend fall on exactly the same dates as they did in 1963: Friday, June 28th and Saturday, June 29th. Join us as we celebrate with Randell Jones, author of "The Daniel Boone Wagon Train: a Journey through the 'Sixties' - 1963-1973."
On Saturday, June 29th at 4:00 p.m., Randell will offer a free presentation on the story of those tumultuous years, when America was going through much change. There is no charge for the public to attend.
Call and make your reservation now for the Dinner with Dan'l at 6:30 p.m. on the grounds of "Horn in the West" in beautiful Daniel Boone Park.
